Tsunami track with Down Sea Internet Cable
Recent natural disasters often haunt many people in the world. Moreover, natural disasters like the tsunami can’t be predicted in advance. Because of that, tsunami early warning system is needed accurate. Now present a new approach to detect a tsunami, which uses the Internet cable under the sea.
There are only five countries that still use the sensor array as a warning system, the United States, Australia, Indonesia, Chile, and Thailand. a cheaper way to detect tsunami, namely using a telecommunications cable or the Internet under the sea to detect the electric field. This tool was created as an electric charge in the salt sea water passing through the Earth’s magnetic field.
The research team led by Manoj Nair at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Colorado, United States, said that the electric field generated by the tsunami when struck Southeast Asia in December 2004, induced voltages up to 500 millivolt.
They were assumed to be detected by the voltmeter placed at the end of the fiber optic and copper cable in the bottom of the Indian Ocean. Only, this idea still has limitations, because underwater internet cables have not been able to show where the exact location for the tsunami.
